About our Chaplain Services

HomeCare Matters Chaplains are qualified to assist the spiritual needs of hospice patients and families during times of illness and crisis. Our Chaplains have over 20 years combined experience providing emotional and spiritual support and comfort to patients.
The Chaplain will make himself available by visiting the home, hospital, or nursing facility. Our Chaplain will provide nondemnominational care and will not attempt to take the place of the patient's own Pastor, but is available to supplement his/her support and is available for the patient who does not have a Pastor.

Our Chaplain will provide prayer and friendly conversation. He can also provide brief guidance and pastoral assistance in understanding, coping and recovering from grief. The Chaplain will assist in locating a spiritual leader of otherfaiths when requested by patients or caregivers.

Spiritual Care is an Important Part of Your Health Studies have shown that faith, meditation and prayer are an integral part of an individual's health and wellness. When utilized, many patients and families feel it is of tremendous comfort and a source of strength when the Chaplain is providing care that offers encouragement and spiritual direction in addition to other health professionals.

The Chaplain is able to offer additional assistance for those desiring materials that would help them in their spiritual journey, such as scriptures on tape, devotionals, pamphlets and other readings.

The Chaplain is also available to conduct funeral services if requested for families served by HomeCare Matters.

Memorial Services

Once in the Spring and once in the Fall our Social Services Department organizes a Memorial Service to honor the lives of patients and others who have died. We would like to share this special event with you and encourage your family and friends to attend and participate in our ceremony. A "Remembering Table" displays pictures or special items to celebrate the memory of your loved one.

Memorial Quilt

As a lasting memorial to your loved one, HomeCare Matters creates a Memorial Quilt of squares made by the family members of patients and others who have died. These quilts are on display in our office lobby. If you would like to create a square in remembrance of your loved one please call our office. If you would like assistance with making a quilt square we have creative and artistic volunteers that are willing to help!
